I have tried many times to make salad dressings and although I may like the more vinegar based, tangy dressings my family really prefers ranch. It’s the ONLY way my 4 year old son will eat salad. I really didn’t want to buy any store bought versions of ranch. They all have MSG and a bunch of other nasty ingredients. I have tried a few homemade ranch recipes and this is my favorite!
I still do use a bit of mayonnaise. I have not yet attempted to make my own yet but… this recipe only calls for 2 tablespoons of mayo. I feel like it really adds to the flavor and makes it taste like the store bought version and if that’s all it takes to get my family to eat a bit of salad at the dinner table then I am willing to bend a little and use mayo.
You can also add this seasoning mix straight to sour cream to create a yummy ranch dip for veggies.
I usually double this recipe just so I don’t have to make it so often. You can also half it easily if you want to make less.
