Thanksgiving A Day Of Gratitude

Thanksgiving A Day Of Gratitude | http://www.wholesimplelife.com #gratitude #thanksgivingTomorrow we will celebrate my favorite holiday of the year.  Yes, I do actually like it better than Christmas.  It’s less expensive!

Thanksgiving Day has always held fond memories.  The smell of turkey roasting in the oven, a steaming bowl of butternut squash topped with a big pat of butter, kids making little oranges stuck with cloves and green apple turkeys.

Sitting down to a huge meal with family or friends eating to my hearts content. Relaxing with puzzles and good conversation often by firelight with a slice of pie sitting on my lap that I slowly eat.

The kids are happy and running around with cousins and probably eating a few too many plates of dessert but on Thanksgiving I don’t care that much.

It can be extremely easy to get down on everything that is going wrong in our lives and in the world.

I wholeheartedly believe that we can choose to focus on, and thus magnify the bad or focus on the positive and magnify it.

On this Thanksgiving I’m reflecting on all of the good that my Heavenly Father has brought into my life.  Sure this year has definitely had it’s struggles, what year doesn’t?

I don’t dwell on those.

I want to focus on all that I am truly grateful for and I hope you do the same this year.

This year I am grateful for:

  • My 3 healthy children
  • A kind loving husband
  • My Father In Heaven
  • My Faith
  • My body
  • My mind
  • My parents and the good people that they are
  • My brothers and the good example they are to me
  • My little tiny basement apartment home
  • My in-laws who live upstairs and are so wonderful and patient with our kids!
  • To live in America
  • Mountains
  • For an early winter and the beautiful snow
  • For our  dog that was added to our family this year
  • Books!
  • The internet and the opportunity to connect with so many people
  • Essential Oils and all other alternative medicine
  • Good food (fermented foods included on that list!)
  • Modern Conveniences
  • Music
  • Good people in this world

I could go on and on but those are the top things that come to my mind.  I love this life I have been given and am so thankful this Thanksgiving day.

I pray you have a wonderful day, filled with lots of yummy food, people you love and gratitude in your heart.

Happy Thanksgiving,

~Hannah
