Oh my this smoothie is good!

I’m going on about 6 days in a row drinking this for breakfast.  I’ve been craving kale lately, I’ve been drinking more kefir smoothies than green smoothies for the last 6 months but last week I decided to try out a new fresh combination.

One thing to remember with kale is that if you blend it with citrus it really cuts the bitter broccoli flavor of kale.  Adding some orange, lemon or lime really mellows out the flavor.  This smoothie recipe is bright, zippy and full of vitamin C and is super satisfying.

I enjoy kefir smoothies because they are so filling and I like to get some probiotics in me first thing in the morning.  I’ve added a bit of kefir that I second fermented into this smoothie to add a bit of protein and good bacteria.

I was also able to find some organic lemons at one of our local grocery stores.  Since I use part of the peel to get extra flavor and nutrients I prefer to use an organic lemon.  If you can’t find them just wash your lemon with warm soapy water or vinegar.
