Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix

One thing that I definitely don’t mind making at home is a good seasoning mix.  It’s amazing what is hidden in those flavoring packets at the store.  Artificial flavorings, colorings, msg, and all sorts of bad stuff.  It’s so easy to mix up a batch of seasoning mix, like this ranch mix to have on hand to add to recipes.  This homemade taco seasoning is really handy since we eat taco salads about once a month.  Just mix all the ingredients up and store in an airtight jar with your other spices and use 1 heaping tablespoon of the spice mix with 1 cup of water for each pound of ground meat.

Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix

3 T. Cumin (like this brand)

2 T. Onion Powder (like this brand)

1 T. Garlic Powder (like this brand)

1/4 t. Cayenne Pepper (optional)

Directions:

Mix all spices and store in an airtight jar with a lid.

To use mix 1 heaping tablespoon of taco seasoning to 1 pound of ground meat with 1 cup of water.  Use seasoned meat as desired.

Homemade taco seasoning is so easy. I usually just use chili powder, cumin, red pepper flakes and oregano. I will try this one next. Thanks for the recipe! Have a wonderful weekend!
