Pear Citrus Green Smoothie

If you haven’t started the green smoothie habit yet, I highly suggest you jump on board with this pear citrus green smoothie!

I’ve gotten in a bit of a rut with my green smoothies.  Always a frozen banana, always berries and some spinach, and they all just started tasting the same.

I kind of got out of the green smoothie habit, which is easy to do when it’s winter time and you live in a freezing cold place!

I needed some inspiration so I began looking at recipes online.  I came up with a delicious new dairy free green smoothie that’s fresh and so satisfying.  You can definitely add all the ingredients to a blender, my personal favorite is the Vitamix blender, but with this specific smoothie I used my new Breville juicer that my mom kindly gave me for my birthday to juice the lemon and oranges first.  Again, this isn’t necessary but it does create a nice smooth texture.

One thing I’ve realized lately is that fresh bananas taste a lot better in a smoothie than frozen bananas.  I used to only use frozen bananas but the taste is much nicer when they are just fresh and room temp.  I also realized it’s much easier to drink a green smoothie when it’s not super thick and frozen.  To achieve a nice cold taste I add ice now, instead of tons of frozen fruit.  Just my 2 cents;)

Adding some sort of citrus, especially the rind really helps to brighten the flavor and make it pop as well.

You are going to LOVE this recipe.  You can use any type of non dairy milk.  I usually blend up my own coconut milk or you could use this new quinoa milk that I’ve recently started making!

I just love how green smoothies make me feel.  You feel so light and energized and you can feel so good knowing that your feeding your body nutrient dense food!
